In brief
Former President Bill Clinton, aged 78, has been admitted to a hospital in Washington, DC, due to a fever. According to Angel Ureña, Clinton's spokesman, he is in good spirits and is receiving excellent care at Georgetown University Medical Center. Ureña communicated the news through a post on X, previously known as Twitter, on Monday evening.
The report indicates that Clinton is undergoing tests and observation. While Ureña did not disclose further details regarding the specific nature of the illness, sources close to the former president told NBC News that the situation is “not urgent” and that he would be “fine.” Furthermore, reports suggest that Clinton is awake and alert during his time in the hospital. This health incident marks the latest in a series of health challenges for the former leader, who held office from 1993 to 2001. In a notable previous hospitalization in 2021, he spent six days in a California hospital due to a blood infection. Clinton has a history of heart issues, including a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and further heart procedures in the years following, ultimately leading him to adopt a vegan diet. Clinton has been active on the campaign trail recently, supporting Vice-President Kamala Harris's presidential ambitions, and released a new book, "Citizen: My Life After the White House," last month.
