When Norway’s long‑reigning King Harald V died, Oslo’s mayor, Anne Lindboe, halted her wedding ceremony with fiancé Pål Sandvid. She announced the postponement in a tribute posted on Instagram, expressing grief that “Norway without him feels empty.” The royal house was in mourning and King Haakon VIII entered the throne at the same time. No new wedding date has been set and the nation is attending memorials at the Royal Palace.

Mayor Anne Lindboe of Oslo announced that her wedding to fiancé Pål Sandvid, scheduled for Friday, will be postponed after the passing of King Harald V.

In a tribute on Instagram, Lindboe wrote, "It’s hard to imagine a Norway without you. You didn’t need a crown to be king."

King Harald V died at the national hospital on the same day, while his son, King Haakon VIII, ascended the throne.

No new wedding date has been set. Lindboe’s engagement in June of this year was the product of a five‑year relationship.
