"He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever," Crawford posted on Instagram, next to a black‑and‑white photo of him. "We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability."
The 27‑year‑old died on 20 September at a rehab facility in California. Police say officials are investigating his death as a suspected overdose, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner lists the case as pending further investigation. The Santa Monica Police Department has said there is no indication foul play was involved.
Gerber had followed in his mother’s modelling footsteps, making his catwalk debut for Italian label Moschino at just 16 years old. He had become known for his open posts on Instagram about mental health and drug use, publishing videos titled "Mental Health Mondays."
Crawford wrote in the post on Sunday: "We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years." She added a thank‑you to the outpouring of love and support from family, friends and strangers alike: "Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia."
Kaia Gerber dedicated a post to his memory on Sunday, sharing a video of the two siblings dancing as children, a photo of them by the ocean and a four‑page letter to "prez" typed against a blue background. In the note she wrote: "I am learning how to love you when I cannot see you."
The family’s tribute has brought attention to the toll of substance misuse and mental health struggles in the entertainment world.
