US authorities are searching for six people after a medical plane bound for Boston, Massachusetts, went missing early Saturday morning.

Federal Aviation Administration officials said the Gulfstream G-100 lost contact just after 1:00 local time, prompting a search‑and‑rescue alert at what would have been Boston’s Logan International Airport.

The aircraft departed Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport at 23:40 local time and was scheduled to arrive in Boston at 1:30 EDT. The plane’s tail number, released by the Coast Guard, identified it as operated by Latitude Air Ambulances, a firm that transports patients internationally.

Flight logs show the aircraft dropped from about 7,300 metres to 3,300 metres before communications failed. An emergency declaration was made by the pilot according to air‑traffic controller logs.

The United States Coast Guard’s Northeast District command reports that air and water search crews are scouring the waters off Nantucket, with the search extending to the open Atlantic as the exact location remains uncertain.
