Residents of Chiang Mai are facing immense challenges due to worsening air quality, which often leads to severe health implications, especially for children. Tirayut Wongsantisuk, who moved to the area attracted by its natural beauty, is now contemplating relocating after noticing that his daughters have begun suffering from frequent nosebleeds.

Local monitoring group IQAir has reported alarming levels of pollution, with Chiang Mai recently ranking among the world's most polluted cities. Satellite imagery has revealed a significant number of hotspots due to agricultural fires, significantly contributing to the hazardous atmosphere.

This is the peak fire season in the region, where land clearing for farming practices exacerbates air quality issues. Many families are not only enduring persistent haze but are also experiencing tangible health problems linked to the polluted air, prompting them to look for safer environments to protect their children.

Benjamas Jaiparkan, another concerned parent, has sent her children away to a neighboring province for their safety, illustrating the urgency of the situation.

In the wake of rising public health concerns, activists and local residents have been mobilizing, filing lawsuits against the government to demand action against pollution, which is threatening their lives and well-being.
