DICKSON CITY, Pa. — In a dramatic response, emergency crews battled a significant fire at Lehigh Valley Hospital on Wednesday night, prompting the swift evacuation of patients, staff, and visitors. According to officials, the fire engulfed parts of the facility, particularly impacting the hospital’s Orthopedic Institute.

All individuals were safely evacuated, confirming no injuries reported at this time. As responders worked through the night, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took to social media platform X to thank first responders for their bravery and commitment to the community. “Thank you to every first responder running toward danger to help their fellow Pennsylvanians,” he expressed while sending prayers to those affected by the incident.

Video footage and photographs circulating online show flames shooting from the hospital, causing alarm among locals. U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan Jr. also recognized the efforts of first responders, emphasizing their prompt action that ensured safety for all involved.

The town of Dickson City, located approximately six miles north of Scranton, is currently in the process of investigating the cause of the fire. Emergency management and health department officials are on-site to assist and assess the situation.
