Detained Nightclub Owners Linked to Fatal Goa Fire in Thailand

Two brothers wanted in connection with a deadly fire at their nightclub in India's Goa state, which killed 25 people, have been detained in Thailand, India's ambassador to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, confirmed to the media.

Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, owners of Birch By Romeo Lane club, fled to Phuket shortly after the incident, which occurred early on Sunday. Initial investigations suggest that the fire was triggered by fireworks set off inside the venue. Most victims were staff members, while five were identified as tourists.

They will be sent back [to India], Mr. Singh stated, following a Delhi court's decision to deny the brothers protection from arrest and subsequent efforts by the Goa government to revoke their passports.

The brothers have assured that they never intended to evade law enforcement and are willing to cooperate with authorities regarding their return. Their lawyer conveyed that they would submit to the jurisdiction of the Indian police and judicial system.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Goa's Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that six individuals have already been arrested and that further arrests are anticipated.

Goa, renowned for its vibrant nightlife and picturesque beaches, attracts millions of tourists every year.
