Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has confirmed his exit from the Trump administration’s cost-cutting initiative known as Doge, expressing dissatisfaction with the president's proposed budget while vowing to ensure Doge's longevity.

 
In a recent announcement on his social media platform X, Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur, declared that his time as a special government employee in President Donald Trump's cost-cutting task force, known as Doge, is coming to a close. Musk expressed gratitude to Trump for the opportunity he was afforded to help lead the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk was granted a designation allowing him to serve in this federal role for up to 130 days each year, a limit he is set to reach by the end of May.

Musk's exit aligns with criticism he poured onto Trump's "big, beautiful" budget bill, a cornerstone of the president’s legislative agenda. In a statement on X, Musk said, "As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government." Official reports suggest that the White House is preparing to "offboard" Musk as he wraps up his role.

The billionaire's departure follows recent comments where he shared his disappointment regarding the budget proposal, which includes extensive tax breaks and an uptick in defense funding. Musk pointed out in an interview with CBS that the budget would likely exacerbate the federal deficit and undermine the objectives of Doge, which was aimed at promoting efficiency in government spending.
