The attack occurred just outside the city of Manbij, situated east of Aleppo, as reported by the Syria Civil Defence, also known as the White Helmets. They indicated that an additional 15 women suffered injuries from the explosion, with some reported to be in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may increase.
As of now, no armed group has claimed responsibility for this horrific act. This blast marks the second lethal car bomb attack in the Manbij area in a mere three days. Just two days prior, a separate explosion in the city center resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two children and a woman.
