In a devastating loss for the entertainment industry, beloved Australian actor Julian McMahon has died at the age of 56 after a battle with cancer.
Australian actor Julian McMahon, renowned for his captivating performances in hit television series such as Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has tragically passed away at the age of 56. His wife, Kelly Paniagua, confirmed his death occurred in Clearwater, Florida, on Wednesday, revealing that he had been diagnosed with cancer. "Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible," she shared in a heartfelt statement released by Deadline.
McMahon rose to fame with the supernatural series Charmed before cementing his status as a household name through his role as Dr. Christian Troy in the beloved medical drama Nip/Tuck, which aired for six successful seasons from 2003 to 2010, earning him a Golden Globe nomination.
Dylan Walsh, his co-star on Nip/Tuck, expressed his shock and sadness, saying, "We rode this wave together and I loved him. Jules! I know you'd want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace."
In addition to his television accomplishments, McMahon portrayed Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four films released in 2005 and 2007. More recently, he captivated audiences in his role on FBI: Most Wanted, where producer Dick Wolf referred to McMahon's untimely death as "shocking news."
Not only was McMahon known for his acting prowess, but he was also the son of a former Australian prime minister. In a fitting twist, he took on the role of an Australian prime minister in the recent Netflix series The Residence. Throughout his life, McMahon navigated three marriages, including his first to renowned Australian singer-actress Dannii Minogue, sister of pop sensation Kylie Minogue.
