Violent Clash in Amsterdam: Israeli Football Fans Under Attack

Adi Reuben, a 24-year-old fan, recounted how he and his friends were targeted by a group of over ten young men who shouted “Jewish, Jewish, IDF, IDF,” referencing both their nationality and the Israeli military. As they were confronted, chaos ensued. “I fell to the floor and they kicked me for about a minute,” Reuben shared, revealing he sustained a broken nose and had blood streaming down his face.

The incidents occurred against the backdrop of confusing tensions that escalated on the eve of the Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax. Other fans, like Gal Binyanmin Tshuva, described similar harrowing experiences, with attackers demanding to see their passports before inflicting violence. "I woke up in an ambulance with blood all over my face,” he noted, recognizing his two broken teeth as remnants of the assault.

Eyewitness reports suggest these assaults were premeditated, with some supporters claiming they were specifically targeted due to their nationality. One fan named Pnina stated, “We hid in the hotels until it was safe to go outside,” capturing the atmosphere of fear that enveloped much of the Israeli contingent.

Esther Voet, a journalist residing in Amsterdam, took measures to protect those targeted, offering her home as a safe haven.
