Deadly Knife Attack in Haifa: One Fatality and Multiple Injuries

In a shocking incident at HaMifratz Central train station, an elderly man has died and four others are injured following a stabbing attack carried out by a man from the Israeli Druze community. The attacker was shot dead by security personnel.

An elderly man has been killed and four others injured in what authorities have labeled a terrorist stabbing attack at the HaMifratz Central train and bus station in Haifa, Israel. The assailant, identified as a Druze man from the nearby town of Shfaram, was shot dead at the scene by security guards, according to police reports.

The victim, reportedly in his 70s, succumbed to injuries sustained during the episode, while a teenage boy and two adults in their 30s are in serious condition, along with a 70-year-old woman who was reportedly injured but stable. Medical personnel from Magen David Adom were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attacker arrived on a bus from Shfaram, approximately 10km east of Haifa, and began stabbing commuters as soon as the bus reached the station, continuing his assault on other individuals in the terminal after disembarking.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, condemning the act as a shocking terrorist strike and reaffirming his government's commitment to combat those who aim to inflict harm.

No immediate claims of responsibility have been made by any militant groups; however, Hamas referred to the attack as "heroic," framing it as a justified response to Israeli actions against Palestinians. This incident unfolds amid ongoing negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding a six-week-old ceasefire in Gaza, with tensions heightened by stalled aid and accusations of breaches of agreement.
