At the G20 Foreign Ministers meeting in Atlanta on 31 October 2026, Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira on the sidelines of the conference to review bilateral ties and discuss regional and global developments. The meeting, held in the United States, focused on the pressing need for cooperation to combat maritime security threats that threaten global trade and supply chains.
During the discussion, Prince Faisal highlighted the growing economic and diplomatic links between the Kingdom and Brazil, underscoring the importance of enhanced coordination in areas such as trade, investment and cultural exchange. Mauro Vieira responded by noting Brazil’s recent initiatives to strengthen maritime safety and counter piracy and illicit trafficking, welcoming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to shared security objectives.
Both officials stressed that the maritime domain remains a critical lever for safeguarding the flow of goods and sustaining the global economy. They agreed that a joint strategy could help mitigate risks along key shipping lanes, including those passing near the Straits of Hormuz and the Gulf of Mexico, regions critical to international trade.
In concluding remarks, Prince Faisal and Mauro Vieira affirmed their shared intent to continue dialogue through diplomatic channels and multilateral forums, moving toward a more secure and prosperous maritime environment for the international community.
