President Donald Trump has said US forces carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel which he said was trafficking drugs, killing three male narcoterrorists on board.

Trump stated that he ordered the attack on the boat, which was in the US Southern Command's area of responsibility, after US intelligence confirmed it was engaged in drug trafficking. This marks the third strike on alleged drug boats in recent weeks.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump noted that the strike occurred in international waters. The US Southern Command oversees a significant area including most of South America and the Caribbean.

Two previous strikes have resulted in the deaths of a total of 14 individuals on boats believed to be from Venezuela.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro previously condemned such strikes, asserting his nation would resist US aggression. Trump's statement echoed earlier announcements of such operations, featuring a video clip showing the vessel before it exploded.

Trump emphasized, On my Orders, the Secretary of War ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility. He added that the vessel was confirmed to be trafficking illicit narcotics aimed at harming American citizens.

The legality of these strikes has been questioned; experts indicated the fatal strike on the first vessel might have violated international human rights and maritime law. Trump concluded his statement urging an end to the sale of harmful drugs in America.
