Trump Announces Departure of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt

President Donald Trump stated on social media that 28‑year‑old Karoline Leavitt will resign as White House Press Secretary at the end of August to focus on her family.

Leavitt, the youngest person to hold the post and a former aide to Trump, will remain a top aide but will no longer occupy the spokesperson role.

Leavitt said in a tweet that it was the “honor and adventure of a lifetime” to serve, but she chose to leave after giving birth to a second daughter and wished to devote more time to her children.

Her exit follows a period marked by both criticism of her media tactics and praise from supporters for staying close to Trump’s message.

Leavitt’s tenure, which began last year, was noted for her aggressive defense of the administration and for seizing control of the White House press pool in February 2025. The administration has yet to announce a replacement, with speculation that a new spokesperson will be chosen in the coming weeks.
