Three Children Among Eight Fatalities in Russian Missile Attack on Ukraine


Local officials in Ukraine confirmed that eight people, including a six‑year‑old girl, two boys aged 11 and 17, and five adults, died when a Russian ballistic missile struck Radushne, a village a few kilometres from Kryvyi Rih.


The missile reportedly destroyed a large home where the family lived and left the house “blown into smithereens,” state defence council chief Oleksandr Vilkul said. Two private homes were completely obliterated and at least eight others were wounded, including an 84‑year‑old woman who was transported to a hospital.


President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian forces launched more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones overnight, claiming the worst attack was near his hometown of Kryvyi Rih. He warned that Moscow was preparing a “massive attack” before the barrage.


The strike coincided with Zelensky’s recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he urged the United States to provide Ukraine a licence to produce Patriot interceptor missiles deemed essential for countering Russia’s ballistic strikes.


Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported that a 10‑metre crater and scattered debris were found on a field near Tarnawa‑Kolonia, witnessing a likely Russian Kh‑101 missile penetration of Polish airspace, though investigations are ongoing. Russian authorities also reported a missile strike hitting a Wildberries warehouse in Penza, Russia, injuring one person.


In Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko tweeted that one person died and fires erupted in three non‑residential buildings. The mayor of Poltava confirmed a death linked to an attack on a Nova Poshta postal terminal, and Lviv’s mayor highlighted damaged residential buildings and trapped victims aiding rescue efforts.

The attack underscores the escalating threat posed by Russia’s use of ballistic missiles across Ukrainian cities, prompting international appeals for enhanced air‑defence support, particularly the delivery of Patriot systems capable of intercepting such threats.
