Katseye vocalist Sophia Laforteza has announced she will temporarily step away from the popular girl group over mental health concerns.
The departure comes less than six months after fellow bandmate Manon Bannerman said she would go on hiatus from the ensemble, known for its global hits Gnarly, Pinky Up and Gabriela.
Laforteza "will be temporarily unable to participate in upcoming promotional activities", HYBE x Geffen Records said in a statement.
"We understand how much EYEKONS were looking forward to seeing Sophia on stage, but it is imperative that her mental health and wellness are prioritized," the label said of the Filipino‑American superstar.
The statement noted the artist will receive medical support and will be reassessed in September. She promised her fans on Instagram, "Making this decision wasn't easy, but I'm learning that health has to come first."
The six‑member girl group formed in 2023 and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards last year. With the current hiatus, the group will continue performances with four members.
