Controversial Malaysian rapper Namewee has been remanded in custody in connection with the death of a Taiwanese influencer found dead in a Kuala Lumpur hotel bathtub two weeks ago.

Police say Namewee, 42, was the last person seen with 31-year-old Iris Hsieh. She had traveled to Malaysia to discuss a commercial video that Namewee had agreed to direct.

Namewee, who denies charges of illegal drug use and possession, is assisting police following the reclassification of Hsieh's death as murder. He had previously been released on bail for drug charges but was recently remanded for further questioning.

The case has seen numerous developments, with reports indicating Namewee contacted emergency services when he found Hsieh unresponsive. Following the discovery, police arrested him after they found nine ecstasy pills in the hotel room. Despite claiming he did not use drugs, he tested positive for a variety of illicit substances.

On social media, Namewee expressed his intent to cooperate fully with authorities, stating, I won't run away. The singer, known for his provocative music style, commands a substantial audience online and has been involved in previous controversies surrounding his work.

Hsieh, not as widely known as Namewee but still possessing a solid social media following, was dubbed the nurse goddess and had transitioned to platforms like OnlyFans, which has added another layer of complexity to the case.

As police await autopsy and toxicology results, the situation remains fluid, capturing the attention of both fans and media worldwide.
