Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced his decision to pause the province's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the US, following comments from President Donald Trump that prompted the termination of trade talks. This decision comes after a conversation Ford had with Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday.

While the advertisement will continue to air over the weekend, including during the Major League Baseball World Series games, Ford stated it will be paused on Monday to allow for the resumption of trade discussions.

Carney had indicated earlier that Canada is ready to re-engage in trade talks with the US at their convenience.

Trump publicly criticized the advertisement on his Truth Social platform, labeling it as 'FAKE' and 'egregious,' effectively terminating trade negotiations between the two nations.

The Ontario government sponsorship of the ad includes a quote from former President Ronald Reagan, a prominent Republican figure, claiming that tariffs 'hurt every American.'
