Jared Leto Accused of Sexual Misconduct by Four Women

The BBC’s new documentary, "Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret," brings forward the stories of four women who say the Oscar‑winning actor and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars abused them while they were teenagers.

One woman reports that, at 17, she was assaulted in a motel bathroom; another says a 19‑year‑old woman was threatened with sexual assault during a hotel stay; the third recalls statutory rape after a 17‑year‑old slept with the star; and the fourth details grooming and repeated explicit phone calls when she was 16.

While the women claim they encountered Leto between 2002 and 2016, the film includes corroborating text and photos, as well as testimonies from band crew who felt the age gap was uncomfortable. Yet, a direct response from Leto’s representatives denied all accusations, saying the allegations are “absolutely and categorically false.”

The documentary also touches on other alleged incidents—such as a teenage girl lured backstage at a stage, an inappropriate autograph sign, and repeated sexual phone calls—adding depth to a narrative of unchecked celebrity power. The revelations have revived discussions about how sites of music and film can blur boundaries between admiration and exploitation.
