Israeli Air Strike in Gaza City Claims Six Family Lives
A sudden air strike on a residential building in Gaza City’s western al‑Sabra neighbourhood has brought tragedy to one household. Local medical staff have confirmed that six members of the al‑Masri family were killed, including brother Firas, his wife Salsabeel, daughters Amira, Salma and Faryal, and son Naim.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense said the target was a Hamas operative, while the exact impact on the family remains under review. The attack adds to a series of strikes that have intensified since a ceasefire was agreed on in October, with Gaza’s health ministry reporting over 1,168 Palestinian deaths. Meanwhile, reports show that at least 58 Palestinians, including six children and eight women, were killed in residential areas between 13 and 20 July alone, according to UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Thameen Al‑Kheetan.
Al‑Kheetan warned of potential violations of international law and the lack of safe havens for civilians even nine months after the ceasefire. Israeli forces have continued a campaign claiming to target members of Hamas’s leadership in retaliation for the Oct. 7 raid that left roughly 1,200 Israelis dead. The situation remains volatile, with the humanitarian toll mounting and international calls for restraint amplifying.
