The partner of US influencer Ashly Robinson, who died last week while on holiday in Zanzibar, is currently speaking to the police as a witness to the events. Joe McCann, aged 45, has had his passport withheld by local authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Robinson's tragic death continue.

Robinson, known online as Ashlee Jenae, was reported to have attempted to take her own life shortly before her death. While no arrests have been made, police previously indicated that McCann is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

In a US interview, Robinson's parents expressed their confusion and heartbreak, stating her death doesn't make any sense. They are seeking clarity on the tragic turn of events that occurred shortly after the couple celebrated Robinson's birthday and engagement during their trip.

Robinson had been found unconscious in her villa and was taken to a hospital where her death was confirmed hours later. Investigations by local authorities are ongoing, with the police awaiting official medical examination reports to determine the cause of her death.

Zanzibar's police chief reported that staff at Zuri Zanzibar, the hotel where the couple stayed, raised alarms about a guest suspected of being suicidal before contacting authorities. The hotel is cooperating with the investigation, expressing its sadness over the incident.

Offering their condolences, the US State Department has confirmed that they are closely monitoring the situation, prioritizing the safety and security of American citizens abroad. Meanwhile, Robinson's parents have committed to cooperating fully with authorities to uncover the truth regarding their daughter's untimely demise.
