Influencer "KC Luxury" Arrested in Lagos After $28m Cocaine Seizure

A 49‑year‑old Nigerian social‑media personality known as "KC Luxury" was detained at Lagos International Airport after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized 184.5 kg of cocaine – a shipment worth nearly $28 million – en route to the United Kingdom.

The influencer, who flaunts a 700,000‑strong Instagram following and presents himself as a gold and luxury‑goods businessman, is suspected of acting as the Nigerian "arrowhead" of a cartel that moves cocaine from South America through Nigeria to Europe and Asia. He was not charged but faces ongoing investigations.

NDLEA officials revealed that the cocaine was concealed in brown boxes at a Lagos courier facility before being discovered on 3 August. The network has long used Nigeria as a transit hub for drug exports to the UK, other parts of Europe, and Asia.

Arrested ten days after the seizure, the influencer was caught attempting to leave the country on a business‑class flight to Paris from Murtala Mohammed International Airport. He was found carrying more than $12,840 in multiple currencies and expensive jewellery, evidence the agency said was "consistent with the proceeds of illicit trade."

Another suspect, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a logistics staff member, allegedly packaged the cocaine for export and received cash payments. He has not commented or been charged yet.

NDLEA head General Buba Marwa highlighted the cooperation with international law‑enforcement agencies, noting that other suspects in the UK were also detained. "We will track you to the departure gates if we must," he said at a news conference in Lagos.
