Riad Bouchaker, 52, found guilty of attempting murder and assault in Dublin.
The Central Criminal Court delivered a verdict after a six‑hour jury deliberation. Bouchaker was convicted on all eight charges he previously denied, which included stabbing three children and assaulting four other people.
A five‑year‑old girl sustained a life‑long brain injury after she was stabbed by Bouchaker in the heart. The court also recorded assaults on a crèche worker and two other children and a teenager.
Sentencing is scheduled for 12 October, with Bouchaker remanded in custody until then.
The attack on 23 November 2023 precipitated riots that spread across much of Dublin, centred on Parnell Square. The largest police force in Irish history was deployed to contain the violence.
Within hours of the assault, rioters destroyed 11 police vehicles, vandalised 13 shops, destroyed three buses and a tram, and injured three police officers. Riot police sustained serious injuries during three hours of sustained violence.
Police chief Drew Harris described the rioters as a far‑right faction driven by lunatic ideology. He criticised the unrest as a deeply damaging response to the attack.
