Analisa Josefa Corr, daughter of former dictator Ferdinand Marcos, is prohibited from consuming alcohol on flights after a drunken confrontation on a Jetstar aircraft.
The daughter of the late Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Analisa Josefa Corr, has found herself at the center of controversy after a drunken brawl aboard a Jetstar flight from Hobart to Sydney. Following the incident, which took place on December 29, Australian authorities have imposed a ban on her and her husband, James Alexander Corr, prohibiting them from consuming alcohol at airports and on flights.
Reports indicate that Ms. Corr, 53, was involved in an altercation where she allegedly "grabbed and shook" another passenger while exiting the aircraft’s restroom. This aggressive behavior led to their removal from the flight by police, who described the pair's conduct as "disorderly" and "disturbing."
Both Ms. Corr and her husband have pleaded not guilty to charges of not adhering to safety instructions and drinking alcohol not served by the flight crew. However, they have agreed to the terms of the alcohol ban while on bail, which includes a potential fine of up to A$13,750 (approximately $8,520 or £6,925) for each offense if found guilty.
Aside from the drinking charges, Ms. Corr has also denied allegations of assaulting a fellow passenger—an offense that could carry a penalty of up to two years in prison. The couple has been required to provide a bail amount of A$20,000, which will be forfeited if they breach any conditions of their bail.
An interesting note is that Ms. Corr is the half-sister of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the current president of the Philippines, and is known for her career as an interior designer. Meanwhile, Mr. Corr, 45, is reported to be a former soldier.
The Australian Federal Police have emphasized the importance of travelers being responsible for their behavior while at airports, especially during the holiday season. "You don’t want to start the new year with a significant fine or worse, behind bars," warned Sergeant Luke Stockwell, highlighting that police presence at airports will be increased to manage disruptive behavior.
Although Jetstar has not commented directly on the incident, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed that they do not tolerate any behavior that threatens the safety and well-being of passengers and crew, which is their top priority.
