Far-Right Figures Question Elon Musk's Commitment as Tensions Rise

Once supportive, far-right figures like Laura Loomer and Stephen K. Bannon are now criticizing Elon Musk for his perceived control over conservative narratives on X, raising alarms about their agendas being compromised.

 

As prominent far-right activists voice their discontent, Elon Musk's previously solid support base in conservative circles appears to be crumbling. Laura Loomer, who gained her Twitter account back in 2022, initially commended Musk for his embrace of free speech. However, she has since flipped her stance, joining a chorus of right-wing personalities who are now cautioning against Musk's growing influence over President-elect Donald J. Trump.

Loomer, alongside notable figures like Charlie Kirk and Stephen K. Bannon, is increasingly vocal about concerns that Musk may prioritize his interests over traditional conservative values. Battling perceptions of censorship, individuals such as Batya Ungar-Sargon, a conservative opinion editor at Newsweek, have labeled Musk a "shill," while lawyer Mike Davis has publicly advised Musk to "stay in your lane."

The situation escalated when X, Musk's platform, began suspending accounts and censoring articles critical of him, a move that triggered backlash among right-wing users. Additionally, Musk's recent remarks targeting Nigel Farage, a known ally of Trump, deepened the breach.

While Musk had initially garnered favor among Trump supporters due to his political endorsements, many now feel disillusioned and deceived—an unsettling shift that highlights the complexities of Musk's relationship with the far-right agenda. With critics fearing their agenda may be overshadowed by Musk's own ambitions, the fallout of this ideological conflict continues to unfold.
