Escalating Violence in Gaza Despite Cease-Fire Announcement
Gazan officials report ongoing Israeli airstrikes causing significant casualties, raising questions about the effectiveness of the cease-fire deal.
Despite the recent cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas, violence has persisted in the region. As of Thursday, Gaza's health ministry reported that at least eight Israeli airstrikes occurred, resulting in 81 fatalities and close to 200 people sustaining injuries over the previous 24 hours. The Palestinian Civil Defense noted that since the cease-fire was declared, at least 77 lives have been lost due to the ongoing bombardments, although the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have yet to provide a response to these allegations. "The reality in the strip remains very difficult and catastrophic," stated Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the rescue and emergency services.
