Trump Appoints Sean Duffy as Transportation Secretary

Sean Duffy, a familiar face to Trump supporters, has been selected as the new Secretary of Transportation, leading a department fraught with challenges.

President-elect Donald Trump has officially nominated former congressman and Fox Business personality Sean Duffy to take the helm of the Department of Transportation. Duffy, known for his staunch support of Trump while serving in Congress, would be the second Fox commentator appointed in the upcoming cabinet.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump praised Duffy as a well-liked public servant who is respected by both parties. The president-elect emphasized the importance of Duffy’s experience in Congress, stating he would work to "maintain and rebuild our Nation’s Infrastructure, and fulfil our Mission of ushering in The Golden Age of Travel, focusing on Safety, Efficiency, and Innovation."

Duffy, who is married to fellow Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy and is a father of nine, noted that he understands the vital necessity for families to travel safely. Having previously served as a Republican congressman from Wisconsin from 2011 until 2019, he also boasts a unique background as a prosecutor and reality TV star, having appeared on popular shows like The Real World: Boston.

Successor to former Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Duffy will inherit a department that employs nearly 55,000 individuals and supervises critical aspects of transportation, including aviation, rail, and transit. One of his main challenges will be tackling ongoing aviation safety issues, particularly those linked to Boeing's quality control dilemmas.
