The developer behind iconic Pokémon games, Game Freak, confirms compromising data leak.
Pokémon maker Game Freak, responsible for the globally recognized entertainment franchise since 1996, confirmed a data breach after sensitive information surfaced online. The breach, discovered this August, saw unauthorized access of 2,606 items containing the names and email addresses of current, former, and contract employees. Despite information online suggesting leaked details of upcoming projects, the company opted not to comment further on unreleased plans. Game Freak assured it will reach out to those affected and enhance security protocols to prevent future breaches. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to all involved," stated the company. Game Freak collaborates closely with Nintendo and the Pokémon Company, focusing now on Pokémon Legends: Z-A, slated for release next year. Concurrently, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have taken legal steps in Japan against Palworld developer Pocketpair, accusing them of patent infringement for their game's similar characters.
