Chris Brown Granted £5 Million Bail Amid Assault Charges in London
US Singer to Continue World Tour Following Court Decision
Grammy-winning artist Chris Brown has been released on bail after appearing at Southwark Crown Court in London, where he was charged with inflicting an "unprovoked attack" in a nightclub earlier this year. The singer, known for hit songs like "Freaky Friday" and "Turn Up the Music," was granted bail set at £5 million—conditional upon him paying £4 million immediately, with the remaining £1 million within a week.
Despite not being present during the bail hearing, the 36-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate his release, saying, "From the cage to the stage!" This comes just in time for his upcoming world tour scheduled to kick off in Amsterdam on June 8, with subsequent performances across major UK cities in June and July.
Brown's arrest occurred last week after he allegedly attacked a music producer with a tequila bottle at the Tape nightclub in London's affluent Mayfair area. Initially denied bail, he secured his release on the condition that he adheres to strict bail requirements, including surrendering his passport when not touring, living at a court-approved address, and refraining from contacting the alleged victim or visiting the nightclub where the incident reportedly took place.
His next court appearance is set for June 20, just after performances at Cardiff's Principality Stadium and London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Alongside Brown, his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu—38, who performs as HoodyBaby—will also appear in court. The legal process ahead will be closely followed as the artist navigates these serious allegations while preparing for his tour.
