Andrew Tate Caught Speeding at 121mph in Romania
Controversial influencer flagged for reckless driving in a local village.
Andrew Tate, the divisive influencer known for his love of luxury sports cars, has found himself in hot water once again after being recorded driving at an astonishing speed of 196 km/h (121 mph) in a 50 km/h zone. This incident took place in a village roughly 184 km from Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Local authorities have since imposed a fine of £310 ($420) consistent with national traffic laws, along with a 120-day suspension of Tate’s driving license due to the egregious nature of the speeding offense.
This latest driving violation comes amid ongoing legal challenges faced by both Andrew and his brother Tristan. The brothers are currently under investigation in Romania for serious charges including rape and human trafficking, with additional allegations arising in the UK and the US. Both individuals have denied all claims of wrongdoing.
Reportedly stopped in the central village of Bujoreni on Saturday, police officials reiterated that excessive speed remains a leading cause of road fatalities in Romania. In fact, Tate has a history of speeding incidents; he was stopped in April 2021 while driving a Porsche at 138 km/h and previously received a speeding ticket in Germany.
A number of Tate's luxury vehicles were seized by Romanian authorities earlier this year in connection to the legal proceedings against him. Tate has criticized British law enforcement for rejecting bribes during traffic stops, even calling such practices "offensive." He has suggested that one of the motivations for relocating his business operations to Romania in 2017 was the country's perceived corruption, which he believes offers "accessible" advantages to those willing to partake.
Looking ahead, British prosecutors have announced plans for Andrew and Tristan Tate to return to the UK to answer 21 criminal charges, including those related to serious sexual offenses, after their Romanian legal matters are resolved. In parallel, they are also facing a civil lawsuit in the US from four women alleging coercion into sex work. The Tate brothers continue to assert their innocence regarding all charges leveled against them.
