Prince Harry Faces Setback in Court Over U.K. Security Rights**

Legal challenges continue as Prince Harry fights for automatic police protection after stepping back from royal duties.**

In a recent court ruling, Prince Harry lost his appeal over the decision to end his automatic police security in the UK, a challenge that has highlighted tensions surrounding royal protections.**

Prince Harry has encountered a significant setback in his ongoing legal battle with the British government regarding security provisions during his visits to the U.K. In a recent ruling, the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal against the removal of his automatic police protection, which is typically afforded to members of the royal family. This security measure was rescinded following his decision to step back from royal duties and relocate abroad in 2020.

During his legal proceedings, which began in September 2021, Harry's legal representatives argued that the removal of such security not only posed risks to his safety but also that of his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two young children. They contended that the decision constituted "inferior treatment" and violated established policies regarding royal protections.

The case was primarily centered on the actions of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), an entity composed of government officials, police, and royal household members. In previous hearings, it was noted that Harry had offered to cover his security costs personally, a proposal that Ravec rejected on the grounds of principle, fearing it could diminish the already limited pool of specially trained close protection officers, who do not routinely bear firearms in the UK.

Harry's legal challenges date back several years, with a failed attempt to secure funding for protection in 2023 following the High Court's dismissal of his case earlier this year. While the recent appeal only scrutinized specific policy violations by Ravec, Harry continues to navigate the complexities of his security arrangements during visits to the UK, which have included significant events like his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, and his father, King Charles III's coronation.

In related legal matters, Harry is pursuing another case against the Publisher of the Daily Mail, alleging unlawful data collection related to his personal life alongside several other notable figures. A hearing for this case is anticipated to take place next week as he continues to engage in legal battles while in the public eye.
