Tragic Floods in Texas Claim Lives of Campers and Camp Directors

Among the young victims is eight-year-old Renee Smajstrla, who was attending Camp Mystic, a beloved summer camp for girls. Her uncle shared a heartfelt note on Facebook, revealing that despite the tragic outcome, the support from social media helped first responders in quickly identifying her. "Renee was living her best life" at camp, he expressed.

Camp Mystic, nearly a century old, offers a wholesome environment aiming to empower young girls spiritually and personally. Sadly, 27 children remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the floods that caused devastating impacts across the campgrounds.

Jane Ragsdale, the beloved director of Heart O' the Hills, another nearby camp also affected, was described as the "heart and soul" of the establishment.
