Hospitals in Northern Gaza Rendered Inoperable Amid Ongoing Conflict
The health ministry reports that medical facilities in Northern Gaza have been fully incapacitated as conflict escalates.
According to the Hamas-run health ministry, all three public hospitals in northern Gaza are now "out of service" as hostilities continue to escalate. On Sunday, the ministry reported that Israeli forces had besieged the Indonesian hospital located in Beit Lahia, inhibiting the entry of patients, medical personnel, and essential supplies. The Indonesian hospital was the last facility still operational in the northern region.
Israel's military has recently launched "Operation Gideon's Chariot," which comes during what has been described as the deadliest series of strikes in Gaza in recent months. Additionally, a Palestinian official informed the BBC that Hamas has offered to release nine hostages in return for a 60-day truce and the release of Palestinian prisoners, following new negotiations that took place on Saturday.
The health ministry's statement highlighted, "After the destruction of Beit Hanoun Hospital and Kamal Adwan Hospital, the complete cessation of operations at the Indonesian Hospital means that all public hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip have been rendered inoperable." As the crisis deepens, access to medical care continues to be a significant concern for the civilian population in affected areas.
