Giorgio Armani to Skip Milan Fashion Week for First Time Following Hospitalization

Italian fashion icon's absence marks a historic moment after a brief health setback

In a stunning development for the fashion world, Giorgio Armani, the venerable Italian designer, will miss Milan Fashion Week for the first time in his illustrious career, a significant absence attributed to recent health concerns.

Armani, now 90 years old, is currently recuperating at home following a short hospital stay in Milan. His company confirmed he had dedicated himself fully to the upcoming collections but will now observe the menswear shows taking place on Saturday and Monday from a distance. This marks a rare instance in his five-decade-long career, as he reportedly has never missed a catwalk event before.

The upcoming shows are set to unveil his Spring-Summer 2026 collections under his renowned brand, celebrating its forthcoming 50th anniversary alongside Armani's 91st birthday next month. In his absence, Leo Dell'Orco, Armani's long-time collaborator and the current head of menswear design, will take center stage and perform the closing bows.

Despite his hospitalization, reports indicate that Armani remains in good spirits and is looking forward to future presentations, including the brand's shows in Paris at the end of June. Born in Piacenza in 1934, Armani has significantly impacted the luxury fashion industry, branching into various segments such as haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion, along with accessories, beauty lines, jewelry, and even luxury hotels across major cities worldwide.

As we reflect on his remarkable journey, it is clear that Armani, known affectionately as 'Re Giorgio' or King Giorgio, has crafted an empire deeply rooted in elegance and innovation.
