**Starmer's Coalition for Ukrainian Peace and Support Gains Momentum**

UK Prime Minister outlines a new strategy to bolster Ukraine amidst the ongoing war with Russia.

Following a pivotal summit, leaders unite to enhance military assistance and secure lasting peace for Ukraine.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has unveiled a comprehensive four-point strategy aimed at fortifying Ukraine's defense and striving for peace amid its ongoing conflict with Russia. This initiative, dubbed the "coalition of the willing," involves increased collaborative efforts among nations such as the UK, France, and other European partners, with aspirations to also engage the United States for support.

Addressing leaders after a significant summit that included 18 nations and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Starmer remarked, “Today, we stand at a crossroads in our history.” Zelensky, reflecting on the summit's outcomes, noted that Ukraine is feeling substantial support from allies, emphasizing the unprecedented European unity demonstrated at the event.

Starmer's four-point plan commits to maintaining military aid for Ukraine, ramping up economic sanctions against Russia, ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty is safeguarded in peace discussions, and strengthening Ukraine's capabilities to prevent future aggressions. An additional commitment of £1.6 billion in UK export finance for acquiring more than 5,000 air defense systems accompanies this initiative, building upon a preceding £2.2 billion loan aimed at further military assistance.

“We must learn from the past, ensuring that any peace agreement can withstand the test of time against potential breaches by Russia,” said Starmer. While the coalition's specific members have not been publicly detailed, he assured that those on board would promptly engage in rigorous planning efforts.

Starmer underscored that Europe bears the responsibility to significantly contribute to this cause, supporting his assertion with a pledge that the UK will provide military personnel and aerial support as needed. He voiced the necessity for cooperation with the US but posited that Moscow should not dictate the terms of any discussions.

The recent summit followed a high-stakes meeting between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump, marked by a tension-filled exchange regarding ongoing support for Ukraine. Zelensky reiterated the need for partnership with the US while expressing readiness to sign a minerals deal with the country, contingent upon the establishment of peace with Russia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also stressed the urgency of rearming Europe as nations signaled their intent to collaborate, ensuring Ukraine receives necessary support to sustain its fight. The gathering encapsulates an intense week of diplomatic engagements, showcasing the need for unified action in light of the complex international landscape surrounding the conflict in Ukraine.
