In a shocking incident at Bali's international airport, a 42-year-old Peruvian woman, identified only by her initials N.S., was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle about $70,000 worth of cocaine and ecstasy. Authorities reported that the drugs were ingeniously concealed within various items, including a sex toy and her undergarments.

Customs officials became suspicious of N.S.'s behavior during her arrival from Barcelona, with a layover in Doha. Upon investigation, they discovered over 1.4 kg (3.1 lbs) of cocaine and 43 ecstasy pills packed in six plastic packets hidden in her green bra and more concealed in her black underwear, along with drugs inserted in a sex toy.

Radiant, Bali's narcotics unit director, revealed that N.S. had reportedly been offered $19,000 to carry out the smuggling operation by an individual she encountered on the dark web in April. Following her arrest on August 12, she has been charged under Indonesia's strict drug laws which carry severe consequences.

Indonesia has a notorious reputation for its harsh penalties against drug trafficking, with foreign nationals previously facing execution. It's noteworthy that since 2017, there has been a de facto moratorium on death sentences, yet the potential for capital punishment still looms over cases like N.S.'s. Recently, three British nationals managed to evade execution by smuggling drugs disguised as food products, underscoring the ongoing battle against the drug trade in the region.
