Zelensky's optimistic meeting in Paris comes amid ongoing tensions with Russia and reflects a growing European coalition for Ukraine's defense.

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky radiated optimism during a recent meeting with European journalists in Paris, following discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron. The gathering was held against a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower illuminated in Ukraine's national colors, a poignant symbol of solidarity. Zelensky's visit was part of broader discussions with diplomats from 30 nations focused on establishing a "coalition of the willing" aimed at providing security guarantees to Ukraine amid ongoing conflicts.

The warm welcome stood in stark contrast to Zelensky's previous visit to the White House, where he faced criticism from President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance before the suspension of U.S. military aid. After engaging in diplomacy with European allies, Zelensky managed to secure the restoration of U.S. assistance. However, lingering doubts remain about the reliability of the U.S. as an ally, particularly in light of Trump's past actions which left many in Ukraine and Europe uneasy.
